The City Government of Santiago through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) is conducting a citywide signature campaign asking every individual  to support Earth Hour Campaign by switching off their lights for one hour or more from  8:30 to 9:30  in the evening (or beyond) on March 23, 2013.

On March 23, 2013, we shall be celebrating EARTH HOUR for the 6th time. Earth Hour is a global campaign showcasing what can and is being done all over the world to combat climate change. The highlight of the program is to unite hundred of millions of people to turn off their lights, united in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we have in common-our planet.​

Search for ‘sustainable and eco-friendly schools​​

Schools interested to participate in the national search for sustainable and eco-friendly schools have until April 16, 2013 to submit their entries to respective Department of Education (DepEd) Division Offices for the elementary and high school categories, or to the regional offices of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) for college category. Every April 22, the world celebrates Earth Day. It is the single biggest environmental celebration in the world participated in by more than 150 countries and over a billion people worldwide.

In the Philippines, the celebration focuses on the different environmental issues that we face as a country. The organizations, local government units, businesses, churches and schools that actively celebrate Earth Day form part Earth Day Network Philippines.

More than two thousand (2,000) entities from different sectors of Philippine society working for environmental protection and conservation and celebrating Earth Day to highlight their successes of the past year comprise the Network.

The Secretariat of the Network is Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc., a non-profit, non-stock corporation.
